This Is Personal

My daughter works at the building directly next to the one destroyed by Joseph Andrew Stack, the deranged pilot who flew his airplane into the Austin, Texas building pictured here. He was a suicidal individual full of hatred, frustration and discontent who no longer possessed the ability or the will to solve problems within the bounds of decent, moral, ethical and legal standards. His murderous action took the life of Vernon Hunter, an IRS employee and Vietnam Vet; and injured so many more. My daughter and her coworkers—themselves federal workers who were on duty that day—are, thankfully, ok. But people on the political fringe like the deranged pilot are not ok. Like Stack, like Osama Bin Laden, like Al Qaeda they are sick, hateful and evil people who call for the failure of our President, the destruction of our government and the dismantling of our institutions. These same ‘friends and sympathizers’ of the terrorist pilot Stack who operate in the right-wing conservative circles of print media, hate radio, disinformation television and the vile-filled conservative blogosphere, applaud this criminal as a hero. He was no hero. His Tea Party Patriot anarchist buddies— teabagging fringe loonies all—cheered Stack but Stack was no one to be cheered. He was a criminal, a murderer who should be roundly condemned for his unforgivable act of terrorism.

VP Biden Says

…Administration 'flexible' on 9/11 trial venue

We don’t want ‘flexible’, Mr. Vice President. We don’t want ‘compromise’. We don’t want ‘bipartisanship’. We want strong, effective, uncompromising and bold leadership that takes this country in a positive, progressive direction. We want leaders who stand up to and smack down those who support taking this country backwards into the proverbial Dark Ages. It’s no wonder Democrats and the White House are losing popularity and losing many who were their most ardent supporters.

A Fox News* Poll Question

Fox News* just conducted an online poll and one of the questions asked was, “What do you think the Tea Party Movement is about?”

As the graphic reflects, most respondents nailed the Tea Party Movement and its followers for what they are, “a fruitless mix of racists and conspiracy theorists.”

There have been complaints the poll is ‘unscientific’ and should be discounted. Maybe, but then again if those complaints are accurate, then the poll would accurately mirror the movement. After all, the Tea baggers themselves are ‘unscientific’ and should be discounted.

More information on the poll can be found at Raw Story.

*Disclaimer: My use of the term ‘News’ in association with the Fox Channel reference is not meant to state, insinuate or otherwise imply that the Fox television network, NewsCorp or any of its employees actually report real news.

Bipartisanship

…the elusive dream and foolish fantasy of President Obama

I give the President high marks for trying to reach bipartisan agreements with members of Congress but it is a waste of time and energy. Instead of trying to woo them into his way of thinking, perhaps the President should take a refresher course in how to listen. His opponents, Republicans, Tea Bagging Loonies, money-grubbing corporate controlled ‘conservatives’ and Blue Dog Benedict Arnolds have said many, many times, “No” to the President’s multiple attempts at bipartisanship. They want him to fail. It’s their only agenda. They’ve said so. I've watched their votes. I've heard them. I wonder why the President is so deaf?

Job Growth Better Under Bush?

…Republicans say ‘yes’. Facts say ‘no’.

It never surprises me how much the Republicans and the so-called ‘conservatives’ lie. They claim job growth and the economy of the U. S. was better under Republican leadership. The facts tell a far different story.

Blanche Lincoln, Aspiring Republican

…Gets Slammed By President Obama

The Corporate Lap-Dog DINO Senator from Arkansas who pretends to be a Democrat stood up in a question and answer session today with the President and took a big right hook to the chin (figuratively speaking) from the President of the United States. It was deserved and over-due.

President Obama said, "If the price of certainty is essentially for us to adopt the exact same proposals that were in place for eight years leading up to the biggest economic crisis since the Great Depression -- we don't tinker with health care, let the insurance companies do what they want, we don't put in place any insurance reforms, we don't mess with the banks, let them keep on doing what they're doing now because we don't want to stir up Wall Street -- the result is going to be the same," he said. "I don't know why we would expect a different outcome pursuing the exact same policy that got us into this fix in the first place."

Senator Lincoln, deaf to all constituents but her corporate masters and Republican sponsors asked: "Are we willing, as Democrats, not only to reach out to Republicans, but to push back in our own party for people who want extremes, and look for the common ground that's going to get us the success that we need not only for our constituents, but for our country, in this global community, in this global economy?"

The President’s reply: “[Middle class Americans]… are more and more vulnerable, and they have been for the last decade, treading water. And if our response ends up being, you know, because we don't want to -- we don't want to stir things up here, we're just going to do the same thing that was being done before, then I don't know what differentiates us from the other guys. And I don't know why people would say, boy, we really want to make sure that those Democrats are in Washington fighting for us."

Sadly, Blanche is so dense she probably didn’t understand the depth of the cut from the President. I would recommend Senator Lincoln sit down and read the Democratic Party’s Platform. If she can’t support those goals outlined in the platform, she needs to change party affiliation. Might as well become a Republican since she votes, thinks and talks like one already.
