Sore Loser Wing Of The Conservatives In America

Don’t you just pity sore losers? And that’s what they are, these crazed individuals and groups who can’t stand the fact they no longer have control of the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Justice Department. Their plan for America? Sour grapes and constant whining and complaining. Nothing positive.

Hate, threats, disinformation and delusional thinking seems to be the only tools of the far right these days. Having lost the election and suffered their own little ‘Waterloo’ at the hands of President Obama and those who rightly voted for the Healthcare Reform Bill, these fearful, ignorant followers of the False News Network and Hatetalk Radio have wrapped themselves in Tea Bags, the American flag and a warped version of a certain brand of Middle-Eastern religion. They’ve taken on the illusionary guise of the brave new Super Patriot in the United States of America. But that’s an absurd moniker for them. More like cowardly old Super Hateriot, if you ask me.

I’d laugh out loud at them if they weren’t so pathetically stupid and dangerous.

Rebuilding Afghanistan While America Crumbles

In a trip this past weekend, under the cover of darkness and in secrecy, President Obama made a visit to Afghanistan. He spoke to American troops and to that country’s corrupt President. He touted the so-called progress being made there. He talked about his hopes for more progress in rebuilding roads, schools and Afghanistan infrastructure, for making it safe and stopping America’s enemies from operating in that country. But that is a fool’s errand, a waste of money, resources and lives. President Obama should know better.

The United States began its military foray into Afghanistan in October 2001. Here we are in 2010 and it still isn’t even safe for people to travel about except under armed escort, cover of darkness and fearful secrecy. A glaring example of what a waste of time, money and lives this war has been—unless you are a defense contractor or military general. So much for progress and America isn’t any safer for it.

To date, $300 billion wasted in Afghanistan, one thousand and thirty (and counting) American military lives, thousands more (and counting) Afghans dead, wounded and miserable and in the U.S.A. we are no safer than we were before this whole mess started. In a sad example of nine years wasted, the President and Defense Secretary Gates said they are looking for ways to send more troops there because of the resurgence of violence and destruction. So much for progress. The military generals say they just need more money, more troops and more time to secure a victory in Afghanistan. I say no. No more time, no more troops, no more money, no more lives. What we need to do is stop this foolishness and refocus our resources and attention back to our own country.

Our leaders tout progress in Afghanistan but back in the U.S.A. progress is dying; decay and debt are killing us as we slip into a third world situation. In America, schools are shutting down and teachers are being let go due to lack of funds. That $300 billion wasted in Afghanistan could have helped stop that. And we would be safer for it. Our cities, counties and states are going broke and are shutting down essential services for our citizens. That $300 billion wasted in Afghanistan could have helped stop that. And we would be safer for it. Our infrastructure, bridges, roads, highways and transportation venues, fresh drinking water supply storage and delivery systems are crumbling. That $300 billion wasted in Afghanistan could have helped stop that. And we would be safer for it. Fifty million Americans don’t have enough food to eat daily and one in four children go to bed hungry in our country each night. That $300 billion wasted in Afghanistan could have helped stop that. And we would be safer for it.

The President, Congress and the war profiteering generals and defense contractors want to spend an additional $500 billion over the next several years to rebuild Afghanistan and continue their murderous, destructive little adventure. I say no. I say spend that money here at home. We would be safer for it.

Tea Party Leaders Like Republican Leaders Just Can’t Tell The Truth

Dale Robertson, a Tea Party activist who operates TeaParty.org was a guest on MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan Show last Wednesday. He told Dylan he’d never seen any sign of racism in the Tea Party Movement. I thought to myself, he’s lying. Now he’s told the Washington Times, “"I've never seen any racial slurs" at tea party events…these people could be anybody. I wouldn't put it past the Democrats to plant somebody there. ...they're trying to label the tea party, but I've never seen any racial slurs…"

Yeah, Dale, sure you haven’t. There is one little problem with your statements and the problem is a pesky little thing the rest of us call 'truth'.

Here’s a picture courtesy of the Washington Independent of Dale Robertson. Can you read the sign he’s holding? Can you say ‘Racist’? Can you say ‘Busted’ boys and girls?

Traditional Republican Values

It should come as no surprise the Republicans, having lost the Healthcare Bill vote, now vow to repeal said law. After all, since President Lincoln’s assassination, they’ve compiled a rich history of fighting against anything that improves the lives of American citizens. They also stood in opposition to the Nineteenth Amendment (Right to vote law) and fought the integration of the U.S. Armed Forces. Considering the track record of the Republicans, it wouldn’t be a shock to learn this current crop of obstructionists occupying the Party of No and their proxy, the Tea Party Patriots, would have opposed President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Maybe they still do.

“Interested in acquiring power but not in governing, they have no legislative objectives, only political ones. They have no policy proposals, only political tactics. They want to be voted in so they will have power and be able to do what serves the interests of their corporate sponsors.” –Silent No More

A sad and dangerous lot, these right-wing radical Republicans.

Healthcare Bill Passes. Republican Response?

The Party of No Is Also The Party of Tantrums.

The down and dirty on Republicans and Tea Party loons: Guilty of childish, immature whining because they lost the healthcare debate and the vote. Threatening to repeal, working against the best interests of America’s citizens. Making threats against those who don’t agree with their hateful, regressive plans to drag America backwards. Still telling lie after lie.

Thumb-sucking and crying is all they can offer because it is all they have. Looks like someone needs to change their diapers.

Republican Lies, Fear-Mongering And Obstructionism. Nothing New.

What is up with the constant lies spewing from the mouths of Republicans? Driven by the reality that they have no vision for the future, no plan to move America forward, no idea or desire to make life better for all of our citizens, all they can do is bow to their corporate masters and foment mass hysteria, stir up hate and bleat out misinformation and outright lies. This GOP poisoned atmosphere against the current healthcare legislation is nothing new.

“This is the largest tax bill in history,” the Republican leader fumed. The reform ‘is unjust, unworkable, stupidly drafted and wastefully financed.”

And that wasn’t all. This “cruel hoax,” he said, this “folly” of “bungling and waste,” compared poorly to the “much less expensive” and “practical measures” favored by the Republicans.

“We must repeal,” the GOP leader argued. “The Republican Party is pledged to do this.”

That was Republican presidential nominee Alf Landon in a September 1936 campaign speech. He based his bid for the White House of repealing Social Security. –Dana Milbank, Washington Post.

Sounds familiar? It should. It’s the same old tactic, same old party of NO. Guess lying is a prerequisite to becoming a Republican.

“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals so that security and liberty may prosper together.” –President Dwight Eisenhower, apparently the last Republican capable of telling the truth.

Ignorance is very dangerous.

Anyone still think Texas should have a say in what we teach the school children of this country?

Texas School Board

… Aware they are on the wrong side of U. S. history regarding government, politics and religion—decide to rewrite history rather than learn it.

On Friday, March 12, 2010, the school board voted to take Thomas Jefferson out of United States history books and replace him with John Calvin. They also blocked students from being taught the reasons behind the prohibition of a state religion in the Bill of Rights, attempting to knock down the time-honored and legally required separation of church and state in this country.

The school board’s ultimate goal is as blatant as their agenda is old.

Calvin, a myopic Middle-Eastern religious fanatic, spent the better part of his life either in or railing against a Middle-Eastern religious institution known as the Catholic Church. His mind, his intellect, the better part of his life was consumed with establishing his own brand of Middle-Eastern religion. Calvin was neither a U. S. patriot, signer of the Declaration of Independence nor drafter of the U.S. Constitution. Thomas Jefferson was.

These people of the Texas school board—part of the ‘conservative’, ‘Republican’, ‘evangelical Christian’, Dominionist, Tea Bag Patriot movement—are the same people who espouse ‘patriotism’, ‘traditional values of our founding fathers’ and a love of country—but that’s all just a front, a lie, an evil deception. They have no love of the Western Enlightenment movement or our Western ideals outlined in the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution; the ideals of life, liberty, pursuit of happiness; the ideals of equal creation, a government of and for the common good. They have no real respect for the founders of our democracy hence the attack on Thomas Jefferson and the separation of church and state.

Their actions reveal the lies of their words. Their true agenda is an old one. Their real loyalties are to their own brand of Middle-Eastern religion, to the religious leaders who profit and preach hate and intolerance from the evangelical pulpit and to the corporations, movements and bankers who fund their current anti-U.S. government movement. These same people backed sending our military to fight and die for oil, greedy corporate interests and profits in Iraq. The truth is, if these same people lived in the time of the American Revolutionary War and the founding of our government, they would be anti-colonialists, pro-British, pro-corporate trading companies licensed by the Empire of King George. They would have supported sending British military to fight and die in the colonies for colonial resources, to suppress individual freedom, to maintain power and profits for the tyrannical Empire. They would be for the British government—a government with a King and a mandatory, state sponsored Middle-Eastern religion.

Their entire goal is to move the United States and its people backwards, not forward. To establish another ‘conservative’, repressive, regressive government with its own brand of state mandated Middle-Eastern religion here in the West. It will be a government far more repressive than King George. If they are successful, their religion will become both our government and our religion, or else.

The people of the American colonies fought and won against these hateful, anti-democracy, anti-liberty people before. It remains to be seen if citizens today who truly value the ideals of those who established this government, and who are the true patriots, can do it again.

Budget Crisis In American Schools

…Where did the money go?

Public schools across America are being squeezed and even closed for lack of funds. It’s a disgrace. How can one of the ‘richest’ nations in the world find itself so poor it can’t keep the public school system operating?

I can think of two reasons.

1. Bailouts. Trillions of taxpayer dollars to bail out the dishonest, deceitful private sector banks, investment brokers and Wall Street gamblers.

2. War. To date, this country has spent $711,000,000,000.00 and counting to fund the illegal war and occupation of Iraq and $259,000,000,000.00 and counting for the military adventurism in Afghanistan.

How many schools, teacher’s salaries, infrastructure, scholarships, school buses, books and supplies, etc., would all that wasted money have funded?

It is a disgrace our government uses taxpayer money to bail out and make healthy the shady, failed private sector capitalist investments but won’t do the same for our public school system. It is a losing and shameful strategy. Meanwhile, Wall Street criminals and military-industrial complex corporate fascists get richer off the government treasury by the billions as we have to watch our children and our country grow poorer.

The United States is collapsing from ‘legalized’ criminal activity by the corporate masters of our political system and its bought-and-paid-for politicians.

Missouri State Senator Nodler (R-Dimwit)

…Experiences Epic Logic Failure

Sometimes it is hard to understand the twisted logic and poor thought processes driving the drivel that spews from the mouths of Republicans. Take this little jewel as an example.

Missouri State Senator Gary Nodler argues that repealing the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy and allowing gays to serve openly in the armed forces would increase our military’s casualty rate because “it would offend terrorists” and be a “cultural affront” to the Muslims we are fighting.

As if invading their country, killing them, murdering their women and children and destroying their villages, towns and cities wouldn’t be offensive enough?

Senator, if your logic is sound (and it certainly isn’t) then our military should also discharge all Jews and Christians serving in the United States armed forces so as not to offend our enemy?

Get help, Senator Nodler. I’m sure Missouri has some good long-term mental health care facilities. Check yourself in before you hurt yourself or someone else, please.

Senator Blanche Lincoln

…Government Subsidies Hypocrite

Senator Lincoln has at least two problems with her stance against government funded ‘socialist’ programs: her own healthcare plan and her family’s farm subsidies.

I’ve watched Blanche Lincoln in politics from the very beginning here in my home state of Arkansas and I voted for her—in the beginning—but no longer. I’ve reached the end of my tolerance for Democrats like Blanche who think and vote like Republicans and who are nothing more than transparent hypocrites. I watched and listened to her rail against the ‘government subsidized’ health care reform proposals as she explained that government subsidized programs were evil socialism and she just wouldn’t support any health care reform that received government subsidies or was government subsidized. Of course, whatever rules and ethical standards she applies to her support and votes on issues important to all Americans—like health care—doesn’t apply to her. As my dad used to say, ‘she speaks out of both sides of her mouth’—meaning, she says one thing, does another. If Senator Lincoln really believed government run health care was nothing more than vile socialism, she would drop the government subsidized health care she enjoys as a Senator. Another example of her ‘government subsidies are wrong-headed socialism’ hypocrisies concerns her family's farms. Over $715,000 was paid out of the government socialized farm subsidies program to the Lincolns in 2007. Best I can tell, her and her family still benefit from these government socialized farm programs. With such blatant hypocrisy by Blanche Lincoln on this and other issues, I’ll be voting for Bill Halter to serve as the new Senator from Arkansas.

The Coffee Party USA

…Perking Its Way Upward

Four days ago, I read the goals and mission statement of the Coffee Party USA and liked it so much I added it to my list of favorite sites even though the membership totaled something like only 9,000 members. Today, I see the membership is over 50,000 and growing.

“The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.”—Mission statement of the Coffee Party USA.

Lincoln versus Halter

…In the upcoming Arkansas Democratic Primary

Arkansas Lt. Governor Bill Halter has announced he will run against Senator Blanche Lincoln this year. I know who I’ll be voting for and it won’t be Blanche. She has been a big disappointment and will not get my vote again. Her voting record is abysmal when it comes to supporting issues important to Democrats, so much so that if she were honest about where she stands politically, she should be running as a Republican.

More can be found about Lt. Governor Halter at his official website, http://www.billhalter.com
